Club Admins: Accepting New Reciprocal Requests...

Feb 20 2012 09:43 PM | Bob Brunius in Articles

Many clubs limit the number of reciprocal clubs they exchange vows with to keep the number of boats at their facilities to a manageable level. Accordingly, some clubs do not want to accept requests for new reciprocal relationships at this time or they want to give special board level consideration.

To accommodate your wishes in this regard we have added a field in your club's information record called:

"Accepting New Recip Requests" -> "Yes" or "No"

The default value which has been initialized into your club's record is: "Yes". If you do not want to consider "Requests" for new reciprocal relationships through the YD web site then go to your club's edit page at the YD site and select "No" to that question. Please keep in mind that just because a club makes a "Request" does not mean that you need to accept it. After reviewing their facilities information and considering the club's request you can "Accept" or "Decline" the request and send a polite message along with it using the Yacht Destinations tools. Don't forget to edit the default "Decline" message which contains a little of my humor in it. :)

Also, sending a "Renew" message to a club that you don't have an existing relationship with is unacceptable. :( Please don't do that.

Under the Details Tab

Feb 19 2012 09:26 AM | Bob Brunius in Articles

When you look at the list of clubs under the "Details" tab there is a column of clickable links under the "Info" column which can bring up a lot of good and worthy stuff about the facilities and resources of a club's reciprocal offering. We have recently made a change to the Icon in that column which tells you a little more about how trust worthy that information might be.

If the icon is a Posted Image that means that the club manager has not revised the information in over a year. Who knows what that might mean but perhaps a cruiser would be well served to call ahead before counting on a place for their boat.

On the other hand the Posted Image icon is use to indicate that the club manager has been busy bringing the information up to date within the last year.

For a summary of the current status of the various clubs participation in keeping the information up to date have a look at this page:

Notes for Club Admins

Feb 05 2012 01:31 AM | Bob Brunius in Frontpage

It's be great to see the broad acceptance of the new Reciprocal Management tools here. For the most part things have been going pretty well with a few exceptions. Some of the things that have tripped up a few of the clubs when managing their account are:

* For security reasons your management tabs are only visible if you are a club manager and you are logged in.

* Under the "My Club's Reciprocals" when changing your current status with a club "Renew" is only to be used when you have an existing reciprocal relationship with that club. If you do not have an existing relationship with a club you can select the "Request" status.

* Remember to edit your outgoing letter once before sending an email with your status change. Don't forget to hit the Save button. The Esc key will back you out of the Preview and Edit screens.

* When editing your letter be aware that the {theirWhatEver} tags are special and should usually not need to be changed. Hit the Preview to see what happens to those. They're like a mail-merge field.

* On the edit screen the Save and Preview buttons are on the bottom of the form and if your screen resolution is small, they might be off the screen on the bottom. If you're not finding those buttons, hit the Ctrl - on you keyboard to zoom your browser out. That's the Control plus the Minus key combination. Ctrl + will zoom in and Ctrl 0 will reset your browser to the default zoom level. That is true for all browsers on all web sites. :)

Welcome to Yachting Destinations

Dec 03 2011 04:52 PM | Bob Brunius in Articles

Yachting Destinations is a network of yacht and sailing clubs that can be used by member clubs (mostly in the Pacific Northwest)
to share yacht club and reciprocal moorage information.

As a member yacht club, the Yachting Destinations site allows you to:
  • Keep your yacht club's information current by your reciprocal administrator . All updates are immediately displayed online.
  • Access important information on the facilities and contacts of yacht clubs with which you have a reciprocal agreement.
  • Protect your privileged information so that is available only to clubs with which you have a reciprocal agreement.
  • Quickly extend reciprocal privileges for the coming year to your reciprocal yacht clubs with the click of a button.
  • Provide an online welcome letter to your reciprocal clubs yearly if desired. Not only will the reciprocal person of each
yacht club be able to print the welcome letter -- but your members will also have access to the printable letter.
  • Display your important yacht club events on the Yachting Destination's Calendar.
  • Share your yacht club's events pictures on the Yachting Destination's Gallery.
  • Communicate with other yacht clubs on the Yachting Destination's Blog.
  • Access technical support on how to use this web site through the Technical Support Blog.
